Scheme vision

We have developed these improvements on the A320 to help alleviate current capacity issues and improve future capacity along the road as new local housing sites are unlocked. These changes have also been designed to help support active travel, including walking and cycling, and improve safety along the route. The improvements, including the construction of changes to junctions and links, will support the provision of new housing which is set out in Runnymede Borough Council's Local Plan, which runs to 2030.

The additional capacity will also reduce travel time, and improve journey time reliability.

How we developed the plans

In February 2021, we asked people who live along the route and those who use it for travel to give their feedback. The key feedback received was the overwhelming need for better cycle routes, less traffic congestion, safer and wider pedestrian routes and additional controlled crossings.

We have used this essential feedback to help shape our designs and ensure that the scheme not only recognises these needs but also provides practicable and effective solutions.
